Lawton was eventually captured by A. He and a few members of the Suicide Squad are temporarily released from imprisonment by A. Their job was to find and retrieve a deadly nerve gas in the possession of a terrorist. In order to infiltrate the terrorist's house, Lawton would attempt a fake assassination in order for John to gain the trust of Gholem Qadir. During a Humanitarian Benefit which John was invited to, Lawton would pose as John after the latter bypassed the security with Qadir.
Lawton would look for a nerve agent only to discover that it was much larger than expected. After Lawton learns that it was planned for him to be killed along with the destruction of the nerve agent, he decides to stay before being reminded of his daughter. Lawton would later realize the drone that was set to destroy the nerve agent was locked onto a chip inside him.
Lyla would cut the chip out with Ben Turner's claws. After they return to A. Lawton is broken out of imprisonment by John and Lyla to stop Amanda Waller. After being instructed to take no kill shots, Lawton is armed and holds up the control room of A.
In late , Deadshot was working as part of the Suicide Squad, killing members of the extremist sect Onslaught in the Republic of Kasnia along with Bronze Tiger. After Nassar blew up an Onslaught truck, Deadshot and the rest of the group found a survivor to take them to Khem-Adam. Lawton and Turner tortured the survivor, but John managed to convince the survivor to tell the Squad the location of Khem-Adam's lair.
They arrived there and freed the kidnapped girls, killing several Onslaught agents along the way. Lawton picked up Turner's body after Khem-Adam killed him and carried him out to the waiting A. King Shark was later trapped in by the Suicide Squad. Captain Boomerang threw a boomerang, but King Shark simply bit through it. Deadshot shot him, knocking him over, followed by Cupid shooting a trick arrow, which expanded in to a net, trapping him.
Floyd later met up with Lyla and John, who were just married, and informed them they had another mission and the Suicide Squad will ride again. The team will go to Kasnia to rescue U. Senator Joseph Cray who got taken hostage while opening a hospital. John decided to tag along to help Lyla.
Cutter, John, Lyla and Lawton parachute in Kasnia. Cupid asked Lyla about the wedding and tells her how she will spare on flowers to save more money for the dress. She told John that she and the Arrow will get married and get children, after which Lawton told her a love life and family is not possible for people who do what they do. John told him he thinks it is possible and that he is not like Lawton.
Lawton said he was not always like he was now. Cupid, John and Lyla entered the hospital while Lawton took down the guards with his sniper rifle.
The Squad burst in and killed the terrorists in a firefight and prepared to free the hostages. The Senator suddenly pulled a gun and said they should not have come here. He shoots at Cupid but Lawton tackles her and takes the bullet for her.
Cupid is visibly touched as the Squad gets away and John helps the shot Lawton. A touched Cupid seemed to be in love with Floyd after he saved her. Deadshot was in Starling City on a job to kill James Holder which he successfully accomplished were he crossed paths with Green Arrow.
A brief fight happened were Deadshot injured Green Arrow in the process and escaped. However finding that the bullet was poisoned, Green Arrow quickly tracked down Deadshot to the apartment were he was hiding out a fight quickly happened resulting in Deadshot once again escaping from Green Arrow.
However leaving his intelligence information on his current job behind Green Arrow learns that Deadshot was hired by Warren Patel to kill of the other business men interested in buying Unidac Industries.
Since Deadshot killed James Holder and Carl Rasmussen two of the business men that were interested in buying the company the only one left for him to kill was Walter Steele , Oliver Queen 's step father and the current head of Queen Consolidated. While trying to complete the job Green Arrow raced over to Deadshot's snipers post were the two eventually confronted each other a fight quickly happened were Green Arrow eventually shot him with an arrow in his right eye knocking him to the ground, unconscious.
Some time later having regained consciousness, a homeless man approached Deadshot who quickly pulled the arrow from his eye and stabbed the old man in his own eye killing him. Lawton slowly staggered out of the building he was in but before he could get far, he was kidnapped by a group of men in a van.
Will Smith's take on Floyd Lawton was also far less dour than the Deadshot of the comics, though he did display the same eye for detail and assassin's code of honor in getting the job done right once he had been paid. By contrast, the Deadshot of the Arrowverse, played by Michael Rowe, was a decidedly dark figure, though his background was quite different from the comics.
He was imprisoned after he lost his temper and threatened his wife. It was here that he was freed by the criminal organization HIVE and recruited to become a hired-gun. Lawton soon developed a reputation for ruthless efficiency and the nickname Deadshot, as well as the quirk of tattooing the name of each of his victims somewhere on his body. Despite this, he still put most of his money into a trust to take care of the family he'd lost. Even taking this original background into account, the Arrowverse 's version of Deadshot was closer in tone and temperament to the comics than the character Will Smith played in Suicide Squad.
The one solace was that he went out with a literal bang in order to ensure that Digg and Lyla would make it back to their pre- Flashpoint baby girl Sara.
The Suicide Squad film wasn't a one-off; the crew will almost certainly get back together for a sequel or two, so Arrow probably won't be able to get any of its Suicide Squad characters back for any more than a cameo.
